What are the characteristics of an authoritarian government?
In an authoritarian government, power is centralized and rests firmly with the ruling authority, often a single person or a select group. This form of government is characterized by limited political freedoms and suppressed individual rights, with dissent usually not tolerated. It's common to see heavy censorship and propaganda in such systems. Elections, if they occur, are often not free or fair. It's a system where the needs and wants of the many are often overlooked in favor of the few in power.
